Crestet - 7th November 2019

After oversleeping a little this morning, we set off on another bright day for Crestet, a small Medieval village a few km to the East from where we are staying. While, I can't say that I have visited all of the hilltop medeival villages in France and Italy and am by no means an expert, this is probably the prettiest one in my experience with narrow cobbled streets and well preserved stone buildings. It is not at all touristy and appears to have no shops, but only a small restaurant at the top called Panoramic.

The view from village across the valley is spectacular as the below pictures hopefully show.

Lunch was at the Restaurant Epicure nearby, where we enjoyed a nice set menu at a very reasonable Euro15 each. Magnus has proven to be a real ice-breaker as people stop to pat and smile at him, often asking what breed he is. We enjoyed a nice chat with the owner of the restaurant and the waiter, who are dog owners themselves.

A few hours in the afternoon were spent in Entrechaux, which is a village that was established in Roman times, which has spread over the years from ground level up the hill, to an abandoned medieval castle. A pretty town in its own right, it unfortunately pales a bit compared Crestet.
