Vaison-La-Romaine - 18th December 2016

The monthly Sunday Flea Market, locally known as a Brocante. The Medieval castle is in the background.

Every month, on a Sunday, Vaison-La-Romaine holds a flea market (brocante) in one of the main car parks in the centre of town. We have been to several weekly Brocantes such Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Villeneuve-les-Avignon plus a less frequent huge brocante in Carpentras a few weeks ago, which occupies acres of space near the train station and which attracts dozens of vendors. There is a wide variation on the quality of goods for sale, from absolute junk to fur coats. In comparison, Vaison's market is quite small, but the quality of the items for sale was pretty good - neither cheap and nasty, not ultra expensive.

We bought some Christmas presents, but cannot reveal what for obvious reasons.

One of the stalls selling vintage lights and fittings. Right now, we are holding ourselves back, but these wall lamps were very tempting.

And who is this - out for a bit of Christmas shopping?

When banks were built to last...
